Guardado to the Twins!

You were probably as shocked as I was to hear the news, but Eddie Guardado is once again a Minnesota Twin. Not exactly the kind of bullpen help we were looking for, but as a setup man, he's been above average (.198 BAA). He even earned the "closer" role in Texas earlier this year, which doesn't mean a whole lot when C.J. Wilson is your stopper, but it's a role nonetheless. In 2008, Guardado has a decent 3.65 ERA, including an ugly 5.19 ERA and .355 BAA (batting average against) in August. Clearly, the closer role does not suit him.

Still, the Twins probably believe that their need for another left-handed arm in the bullpen outweighs his recent struggles. In return, the Twins gave up Elizabethton (rookie ball) closer Mike Hamburger (1-2, 4.17 ERA), who was named the league's top reliever this year.

More coming later, including a Twins-A's series preview! Enjoy your afternoon!
